VW / Audi 2.0 TFSI PCV and Boost Leak Test in Slough
The 2.0 TFSI engine in countless Golf GTI, A3, A4, A5, TT, Octavia vRS and Leon Cupra cars around Slough has a known weakness: the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) diaphragm built into the valve cover splits. Smoke test confirms it in 20 minutes
Engine off, smoke into the intake at the post-MAF inlet. A failed 2.0 TFSI PCV diaphragm leaks smoke clearly from the top of the valve cover, often from around the small black plastic dome on the back of the cover. We video it on a phone and show you, so you know what you are paying for.
Some 2.0 TFSI cars have a secondary leak at the same time (intake manifold gasket, intercooler hose, charge pipe to throttle joint). We check all of them on the same smoke session and quote everything in one honest go, so you do not pay for the same diagnostic twice.
What the fix involves at our Slough workshop
Engine cover off, coils and plugs out, valve cover bolts out, old cover off, gasket scraped, new OEM valve cover with integrated PCV diaphragm fitted, new bolts torqued to spec, coils and plugs back, run up, leak test, fault codes cleared.
