Front end into service position, undertray off, auxiliary belt and tensioner off. We lock the crank and cam properly with the correct VAG timing tools, not improvised pins. New cambelt, new tensioner, new idler pulleys and a new OE-quality water pump with a metal impeller go on every time. Plastic-impeller pumps are exactly why these engines overheat at 120,000 miles. We do not fit them.
