What a proper R134a re-gas at Onyx includes
Old refrigerant recovered into our R134a station, weighed and recorded. Deep vacuum pulled for 30 minutes to boil off any moisture inside the system. Vacuum hold-test for at least 10 minutes. If it drops, you have a leak and we stop and quote the repair before going any further.
If the vacuum holds, we charge to the exact factory weight (printed on the slam panel sticker), inject UV dye if you want long-term leak traceability, run the system and measure vent temperatures at the dashboard. A healthy R134a car should be blowing 4 to 8 degrees Celsius at the centre vents. We will not let your car leave at 15 degrees and call it 'done'.
When a re-gas is not the answer
Air con is a sealed system. It does not consume refrigerant the way an engine consumes oil. If your car needs a re-gas every summer, the answer is leak detection, not another bottle of gas. We will be honest with you. Sometimes the answer is a a fair amount schrader valve, sometimes it is a a fair amount condenser, sometimes it is a a fair amount compressor. We quote real prices for real fixes.
If your aircon stopped working suddenly (not gradually), that is usually a compressor clutch, a pressure switch, or an electrical fault, not low gas. Bring it in and we will diagnose before assuming.
