Stage 2 or Stage 3 Dyno Tune? We Map It in Slough
Stage 1 is a software-only remap on an otherwise stock car. Stage 2 and Stage 3 are different. They start with hardware: bigger intercooler, downpipe with high-flow or de-cat, uprated intake, sometimes a hybrid or upgraded turbo. Generic off-the-shelf maps for those cars do not work properly. The software has to be matched to your specific hardware combination, and the only honest way to do that is on the dyno.
We dyno tune Stage 2 and Stage 3 cars every month at our Berkshire workshop. Most come from drivers across Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead who have already fitted the hardware themselves or by another shop, and now need the software calibrated to suit. We do the calibration, prove it on the dyno, and hand you the graph.
What we do on a Stage 2 / Stage 3 dyno session
- Health check before any tuning. compression, spark, fuel pressure, plug condition, boost integrity. We do not tune sick engines
- Hardware inspection. we look at what is actually fitted (downpipe, intercooler, intake, injectors, fuel pump) so the tune matches reality
- Baseline dyno run. to log starting BHP, torque, AFR and timing values on your current map
- Custom tune file written to your car. boost target, fuelling, timing, torque limits all set to suit your hardware, not someone else's
- Multiple dyno runs and refinement. we adjust and re-run until the tune is safe, smooth and making the right numbers for your spec
- Final dyno graph and tune backup. printed graph in your hand, original ECU file backed up so you can return to stock any time
Cars we dyno-tune most often at Stage 2 / Stage 3
Audi S3, RS3, TT RS, RS4, RS6. Golf GTI Mk7/Mk8, Golf R, Cupra. BMW M135i, 335i, 340i, M2, M3, M4. Mercedes A35, A45, A45 S, C63. Ford Focus ST and RS, Fiesta ST. Honda Civic Type R. Nissan GT-R. Most of these benefit hugely from a hardware-matched dyno tune over a generic flash, and most of them come to us already partly modified from Berkshire owners.
We also tune diesels at Stage 2 (uprated downpipe, hybrid turbo on BMW N57, Audi 3.0 TDI, VW 2.0 TDI). The same honest principle applies. We tune to the hardware, prove it on the dyno, and back it up with a graph and a saved original file.
Honest limits and honest pricing
Stage 2 and Stage 3 are not magic. They are software calibrated to specific hardware. If your hardware is half-finished, undersized or wrongly specified, no amount of tuning will rescue it. We will tell you straight on the day what your current setup is capable of, and what hardware (if any) would unlock more.
Pricing is fixed and quoted up front on WhatsApp. We do not work on a vague 'depends what we find' basis. Dyno-tuning costs more than a generic flash because it takes a calibrator's time on the rollers, not five minutes plugged into an OBD port. The graph proves the difference.
